Volkswagen for Good has partnered with Qhubeka and World Vision, as part of the Bicycle Education Empowerment Programme (BEEP), to provide hundreds of bikes to rural schools in KwaZulu Natal. Mobility helps students get to school on time, improving their attendance and consequently, their school marks.
Now that we’ve tackled getting to school, we’d like to tackle challenges faced at school – lack of supplies and basic learning tools. Volkswagen have teamed up with Nal’ibali, a national reading-for-enjoyment campaign to spark children’s potential through storytelling and reading in English and their home languages, inspiring and motivating them to read for themselves.
With your help, we aim to put more pens in hands and more books on desks. We’re asking you for story books and stationery donations of any size. New or second hand books, pencils, pens, erasers, highlighters, files, calculators – any item that would help a pupil learn or study. For a list of recommended reads, visit the Nal’ibali website here.
You can deliver your donation to us from now until end September, and we’ll make sure it gets to the right place.
Every child deserves the very best chance at a better future and together we can give children that chance, one book at a time.
